Habitat for Humanity of Taos is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical, nonprofit Christian housing ministry building decent, affordable housing
in partnership with people in need.
Volunteers provide most of the labor. Individual and corporate donors provide funding and building materials. Partner families put 500 or more hours of "sweat equity" into their homes and the homes of others. Habitat houses are sold at no profit, with no interest charged. Mortgage payments go into a revolving fund for Habitat for Humanity, to finance additional houses.
